Consultation Groups

I have ongoing consultation groups focused on somatic attachment work. Each group has five members who have opportunities to discuss clients through this lens. Members of each group have some grounding in somatic work and utilize the concepts of nervous system regulation, resourcing and attachment theory in their work.

In my groups, I emphasize safety as well as what is happening on a regulation and attachment level for the therapist, the client and the dyad. Sometimes, we utilize somatic skills to help the presenting therapist fully understand what is happening in the therapy through their own visceral experience. Likewise, we sometimes use somatic skills to help resource the therapist back to a regulated state in working with their client.

Unlike a practice group, the consultation group focuses on your work with your actual clients rather than on your receiving feedback about your moment-to-moment process with a “client” in the group.

Members also have opportunities to talk about practice development, legal and ethical issues, and their growing edges as therapists seeking to work authentically and effectively with clients.

In addition to understanding regulation and somatics, members must be on a clinical track.  I also request that members read my workbook, Body, Brain, Love: A Therapist’s Workbook for Affect Regulation and Somatic Attachment so they understand my approach.
